Osama Megalla is the Assistant Division Chief for Program/Project Management and a Principal Transportation Engineer at Caltrans District 7. He started his career working on U.S.-funded military and civilian infrastructure projects in the Middle East. After returning to the U.S. in 1995, he worked on advanced civil engineering polymers. Joining Caltrans in 1998, he has advanced from the position of Project Manager to Assistant Division Chief. Osama has led several high-profile Caltrans projects, including the SR-14 HOV Corridor, Gerald Desmond Bridge Replacement, and the Vincent Thomas Bridge Deck Replacement. He also managed the ahead-of-schedule fire restoration of the Sylmar I-5 truck tunnel in 2007. Osama is a registered California Civil Engineer, and he holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cairo University and a Master Certificate in Project Management from the Project Management Institute.
