Our Mission Statement

To promote the interests of international commerce, shipping, transportation and supporting industries, including governments and communities.

To provide a forum for discussion and to promote public education regarding critical issues which concern these industries.



Chartered in 1939

The Propeller Club of Los Angeles-Long Beach, was chartered July 28, 1939 and has been the leading maritime organization in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area. This chapter is part of the Pacific Coast Region of the Propeller Club of the United States.

Together with the Port of Los Angeles-Long Beach, this region includes San Diego, Northern California, Tacoma, and Seattle.

The Club is governed by a President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and Board of Governors. Committee chairs and members are responsible for planning the various activities of the club. The committees include: Programs/Special Events, Seafood Feast, Education, Golf, Membership, Legislative, Public Relations and Reception.

The Club has an Executive Director who handles the day-to-day administration of the Club.



Awards


Scholarship Program

The International Longshore & Warehouse Union/Propeller Club (ILWU/PC) Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships annually to high school students in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area. Between $3,000 and $5,000 is raised annually and since 1987, we have raised over $120,000. The Club regularly supports the California Maritime Academy. In the early 1970’s, the Club donated in excess of $30,000 to create a Revolving Student Loan fund.
