Speaker

Jim Verburg, Director, Fuels
Western States Petroleum Association

Jim Verburg joined the WSPA team in January 2022 as the Director of fuels policy. In this role, Jim serves as WSPA’s regulatory and technical lead for fuels-related regulatory and policy issues in Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, and Nevada and works cooperatively with member committees and agency staff to develop practical regulatory strategies for a range of fuels related issues.

Prior to joining WSPA, Jim served as a Senior Environmental Engineer, Department Superintendent, and Environment, Social and Carbon Advisor for a BP refinery in Washington State where he administered several air quality compliance programs, permitted capital projects, and served as regulatory affairs lead on downstream and fuels-related issues.

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Western Washington University. Jim lives in Whatcom County, Washington with his wife Cathy and daughter Olivia. Outside of work he enjoys the outdoors and music.
